Choosing a Bathroom Sink and Faucet
A bathroom sink and faucet should be selected from the style you wish to define. What kind of room makes you comfortable? Do you prefer a contemporary, traditional or transitional look? Do you like color or do you prefer a serene, monochromatic look? What about your family’s needs - grooming – aesthetics – comfort – function? In selecting a sink and faucet, there are other considerations as well:
What Size Will Fit?
The size of your bathroom sink will be dictated by the size of your cabinetry, countertops, and bathroom. Measure under your existing sink or where you want the new sink to be placed - you’ll also need at least 15” of space from the centerline of the bowl to the nearest wall, and for a double bowl lavatory sinks; you’ll need 30” of space between the centerlines of each bowl. Plus, you will want to also take in to consideration how much additional counter space you might desire.
What Shape Works Best?
Shape is usually a matter of personal style, but in certain circumstances where space is limited, you may want to choose a corner sink to give you more room, such as small bathrooms or a sink in the bedroom. Sinks with extra-wide rims add bonus counter space and room for such items as soap dishes, cups and more.
What Faucet Should be Chosen?
There are many things to consider about when choosing a bathroom faucet. These include the number of handles, the finish options, and the style of spout the faucet.
The faucet you choose will in some ways dictate the look of your bathroom in function and style. You need to decide whether you want a tall spout or one with a lower profile. It's easier to get your hands under a taller spout, but spouts with lower profiles may minimize splashing. At the same time as you're looking at the spout shape, you need to consider what style or theme you want for your bathroom.
What Finish Options are Available?
There are many faucet finish options available to suit any décor. Some options are; chrome, polished brass, chrome/brass, brushed nickel, satin nickel, French gold, brushed chrome, oil rubbed bronze, weathered copper, French bronze, pewter, white, almond, biscuit, satine, platinum and more.
One of the most important things to remember about finishes is that each manufacturer’s finishing process is different, and the color will vary slightly. To ensure that all the faucets and accessories match, buy them from the same manufacturer.
Choosing Coordinating Fixtures
For a completely coordinated bath, match your bath faucets with your sink faucets, whirlpool tub faucets and fittings and more. Most manufacturers have made choosing easy by offering “collections” of faucets and matching accessories to complete your entire bathroom. These typically include the sink, tub and shower faucets and matching towel rings, bars, paper holders as well as matching vanity lighting and sconces.

How do I change the water pressure between my shower head and sink faucet in my bathroom?
I recently had a handyman come in and fix the pressure between my shower head and sink faucet in my bathroom. At first, the shower head had little pressure and the sink had a lot. After the fix, the sink has little pressure and the shower has too much pressure. How do I go about re-balancing the pressure and fix this myself?
sometimes when you cut the water off, when it is turned back on, trash in the pipes is pushed up into the fixtures. i've had to disassemble them and flush out to clean out the debris which lodge in the screens or seals. the showerhead, just adjust your control knob down to decrease the flow of water.
